The 48th annual Corner Brook Winter Carnival kicked off on Friday night Feb 15th with the flag raising ceremony at City Hall. Colemans, a bronze sponsor supplied hot chocolate to those who braved the cold to attend. On Saturday Feb 16th the much anticipated eleventh annual Winter Carnival Chili Cook was held in the lobby of the Studio in the Civic Center from 11 am – 1 pm with the most entries ever at 15. All proceeds went to the Western Memorial Hospital Foundation, (WMRH).
Colemans Garden Market Sous Chef Corey Power made a Chuck Wagon Chili featuring store made Italian Sausage. The chili was a big hit and many of the tasters enjoyed the flavor. According to the judges, Corey came really close to placing in the top 3.
Congratulations to the winners of the chili contest; Trevor Janes and Belle took first place, Gary Kean from the Western Star took second place; and the runner up (which was the most popular second choice) was the Mayor of Corner Brook Jim Parsons.
